Yep, it's an expansion, so you can use it for some games, not for others. It seems a bit mental, but it might be cool to have a wandering magical tower or something that you have to use the storm of magic rules for when it's on your tile.
Yes, we always have that. I'm SURE the gm will whip folks into shape soon. I'm sure as beans not lifting a paintbrush until the interest level perks up a notch.
Hmm...9th of July I think. Get this, there's rules for fimir in there. YEAHH!
Sounds like a lark, you get 25% on top of you army value to add monsters and magic items and such. Tempted by the cockatrice, it's quite nice. Not mad about the manticore or chimera though.
I am more than a little concerned that WFB is going down the rock-paper-scissors route. Monsters stomp infantry, infantry rout artillery, artillery flattens monsters.
You and me both. Infantry is still king however. Even if a monster whups a load of infantry, chances are it'll hold on steadfast. Most monsters have poor leadership. It's a bit crap the way the large beasts like dragons are gone from the table too, as they are terrified of artillery, and with good reason.
The combined arms approach still seems a worthy way to go though.
Ridden Monsters are a big no-no against artillery as well. Both lizardmen and now TK are big on ridden monsters too. And neither benefit from the the increased inspiring presence of their generals.
What is interesting to me about this campaign is opponent specific lists. Which races do you look forward to facing and which do you think are a bad matchup, and how that effects you decision making when it comes to who to ally with.
I vote nay for Storm of magic. You guys are already making up so many rules (hopefully we'll see the first batch tomorrow from Tom) that introducing GW's unbalancing 'buy more models' wetdream doesn't strike me sensible.
I guess we just have to wait til we get a copy of it to decide. It is supposed to be an add-on rather than a rewrite, isnt it?

ReplyDeleteI would say put it to a vote but peeps are not showing a lot of interest just yet. Thank god we have a GM to blame this all on later ;-)

Apparently, Bretonnian pegasus knights are the shizzle.
ReplyDeleteTailored lists, not something I've seen in a while,it'll be quite fun watching the diplomacy end of things.

True, there's a lot of rules in the mix. Perhaps let's have a look through the expansion first though. But as you say, one step at a time.
ReplyDeleteLesson from last time.... no complex rules!
