Map - Year 5, Espionage
Year 5: Espionage et al
With battle lines drawn the Norse empire found its twin naval bases in Hersig (F11) and Chrace (H11) beset by attacks from enemy operatives all throughout the winter. The Norse had prepared well with various cadres of agents and spies tasked with defending the realm from attack. A Lahmian
saboteur in Hersig was caught and destroyed in Hersig but the best Norscan operatives were no
match for the skill of the Bretonnians. One Bretonnian saboteur managed to sink one of the two
Norse fleets in Hersig, while a second saboteur set fire to the settlement causing immense damage
and killing hundreds. When the fires were quenched it was clear that Hersig was effectively razed to
the ground. Meanwhile the other fleet in Hersig managed to escape unharmed to the open sea. In
Chrace it was the Undead and the Dawi that sought to cripple the Norscan fleets. Again the Norscan
operatives worked hard to uncover subterfuge in the province and a Dwarf saboteur was caught
and killed. A Lahmian saboteur was also discovered and killed. However one Dwarf saboteur did get
through and destroyed one of the two Norse fleets in a thrilling and daredevil pyrotechnic display.
The Norse lords are not ones to sit back quietly and they launched their own missions against the
Vampire shipyards at Eagle Eyries (G10) and the Glowing Crater (F9). However the undead spy
network intercepted these orders and removed the Norscan operatives before they could become
threats.
The Bretonnians were not finished and 200 Norse troops were slaughtered by Bretonni assassins
in the frozen north (C15). Finally, the Norse launched their own killers against the last force of
Dark Elves on Kinsblood (I16). These devastating attacks saw 190 Druchii murdered by the chaos
assassins.
